October 14, 2021 - Proclamation: November as National Native American Heritage Month | Español

The Cabrillo Unified School District and the Coastside community recognize the importance of understanding the history of this area, particularly with regard to the Ramaytush Ohlone people who lived here first and recognize November as National Native American Heritage Month.


September 9, 2021 - Proclamation: Declaring October as LGBTQ History Month | Español

The Cabrillo Unified School District Governing Board hereby celebrates and honors its annual celebration of October as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) History Month and recognizes the ongoing need to acknowledge the history and achievements of LGBTQ people.


August 12, 2021 - Proclamation: Hispanic Heritage Month – September 15, 2021 – October 15, 2021Español

The Cabrillo Unified School District Board of Trustees hereby recognizes, honors, and celebrates the many contributions, heritage, and history of Hispanics, Latinos, Latinas, and Latinx people during our annual commemoration and proclamation of Hispanic Heritage Month.

May 13, 2021 - Proclamation: Recognizing June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the Cabrillo Unified School District | Español

The Cabrillo Unified School District declares the month of June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in our schools and invites everyone to reflect on ways we all can live and work together with a commitment to mutual respect and understanding.  Furthermore, CUSD recognizes June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month by flying the Rainbow Flag and/or the Progress Flag at the District Office and at our schools during the month of June.

The Cabrillo Unified School District Governing Board proclaims the week of May 10-14, 2021 as Student Mental Health Week.


April 8, 2021 - Resolution: 05-21 Supporting People of Asian Ancestry and Condemning Harassment, Violence, and Hatred Toward People of Asian Descent | Español


The Governing Board of the Cabrillo Unified School District condemns hatred, xenophobia, harassment, and violence towards people of Asian ancestry and commits to creating a supportive, inclusive culture that fully embraces students of Asian descent.


April 8, 2021 - Proclamation: Recognizing May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month | Español

The Governing Board of Cabrillo Unified School District proclaims that May is designated as Asian-Pacific Islander Month and that CUSD calls upon schools, staff, students, and families of the Coastside to observe May as Asian-Pacific Islander History Month by celebrating and recognizing the countless contributions made by Asians and Pacific Islanders throughout our history.


April 8, 2021 - Proclamation: Recognizing May as Jewish American Heritage Month | Español

The Cabrillo Unified School District Governing Board recognizes May as Jewish American Heritage Month and encourages all Coastside families, students, and staff to acknowledge and honor Jewish Americans for their notable accomplishments and outstanding service to the Coastside, California, and the nation writ large.

The Governing Board of the Cabrillo Unified School District proudly declares the whole month of May 2021 as Employee Appreciation Month. In making this declaration, the CUSD Governing Board honors all Cabrillo Unified School District staff for dedicating their lives to promoting the success of our children and our community.


April 8, 2021 - Proclamation: Designating April 22 as Earth Day | Español

The Governing Board of Cabrillo Unified School District proclaims that April 22 is designated as Earth Day and CUSD calls upon the schools, staff, students, and families of the Coastside to observe Earth Day by pledging our commitment to protecting the environment every day. Our pledges going forward are provided below to guide our work, and we invite the Coastside community to join us in this work of protecting our environment. We ask Coastside community members as individuals to join us in our environmental pledges.

The Governing Board of Cabrillo Unified School District proclaims that March is designated as Women’s History Month and that CUSD calls upon the schools, staff, students, and families of the Coastside to observe March as Women’s History Month by celebrating and recognizing the countless contributions made by women throughout history.

The Governing Board of the Cabrillo Unified School District takes great pleasure in recognizing February 2021 as African American History Month, urges all Coastside citizens to join in celebrating the accomplishments of African Americans during African American History Month, and encourages the staff and students of CUSD to recognize not only the many different talents of African Americans but also the great achievements, contributions, and sacrifices they have made to help create equity and equality for all.

The Cabrillo Unified School District and the Coastside community recognize the importance of understanding the history of this area, particularly with regard to honoring the cultures and lives of the Ohlone people and other indigenous peoples who lived here first.


September 10, 2020  - Proclamation: Declaring October as LGBTQ History Month | Español

Cabrillo Unified School District Governing Board celebrates and honors its annual celebration of October as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) History Month. CUSD recognizes the ongoing need to acknowledge the history and achievements of LGBTQ people, and we support the implementation of programs and curricula that reflect the diversity of LGBTQ people. CUSD recognizes the importance of upholding the legal rights of LGBTQ people, and CUSD shall work toward voluntary self-identification efforts for sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (SOGIE) data collection in our schools while promoting policies and practices protecting LGBTQ people.

June 18, 2020 - Resolution: Reaffirming the Responsibility of Cabrillo Unified School District’s Governing Board to Represent All Coastside Students and Constituents
Cabrillo Unified School District Governing Board hereby upholds and affirms their responsibility to make policy decisions that represent the diverse interests and collective needs of all CUSD students and all Coastside constituents as a Board of Trustees responsible for setting policies and making decisions that must represent a unified public school district as a whole.


May 27, 2020 - Proclamation: LGBT Pride Month in the Cabrillo Unified School District June 2020

Cabrillo Unified School District does hereby declare the month of June as LGBT Pride month in our schools and invites everyone to reflect on ways we all can live and work together with a commitment to mutual respect and understanding; and furthermore, CUSD recognizes Pride Month by flying the rainbow flag at the District Office and our schools during the month of June.


April 16, 2020 - Proclamation: Autism Awareness Month April 2020
The Cabrillo Unified School District Governing Board recognizes and celebrates the countless ways individuals who live on the autism spectrum contribute to and strengthen our communities. The Cabrillo Unified School District Governing Board is being asked to encourage the community to “Light It Up Blue” through the month of April to help shine a light on autism.

The Cabrillo Unified School District Governing Board supports the rights, freedoms, and equality of those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ). The Governing Board believes that all students deserve to feel safe and welcome in their schools, to be known by their preferred name, gender identity, story, and to see themselves represented in the curricula, in our staff, and in our community.
